Margot, Photoblog

Aloha Photograviewers! I’m going to share a photo with you that I took in early 2007 for the Harper’s BAZAAR/Canon Fashion Photography Award.

I took my friend and model, Margot, down to Luna Park in Sydney with a collection of old outfits, and set up the shots to look like photographs one would see in Harper’s BAZAAR. I did this by previously browsing through the magazine and noting the way the models are positioned, as well as the attention to detail in the foreground and background of the photographs.

I used my 50mm f/1.8 lens (a prime lens) at f/2.5 to take this shot; resulting in Margot’s face being sharp while the background fades into blur. Thus taking the viewers focus in the shot.

I’ve taken a lot of portraits before, but this would have been one of the more exciting photoshoots I’ve done; the resulting photographs are among my favourites. I hope you enjoy.
