SEO your Photos, Photographers

Optimizing photos for search engines gives you another chance to gain exposure – Getting your site ranked in Search Engines is awesome and good for any photographer’s business, but getting ranked for your photos is another way to get yourself out there. You may have even hired an SEO Company to help you optimize your site.

Well have you ever thought about optimizing your photos for search?

Image optimization can be a huge source of traffic! Professional Photographers listen up; having good, clear, medium-sized photos of yours getting indexed in the Image Searches of Google, Yahoo, and Bing is a good move for getting more clients or sales. Here are a few tips for doing just that.

Save AS! Save AS! Save AS! When you’re saving your photo inside Photoshop don’t ever “save for web”. Why? Cause it strips meta data. So useing “Save As” in Photoshop is the first step.
Meta-data: JPGs have the ability to store meta-data that is keywords, description, and the rest of the EXIF meta data from your camera.
When Saving (save as), your file name needs to be descriptive with keywords that you’re looking to get indexed for in the image search of the major search engines.

For this photo I am going after these top 3 keywords or phrases. Who/What, Where, and When are the best descriptive terms to go after for image search optimization or anything for that matter. Using these keywords when you embed your image in the alt tag is also essential for optimizing photos for search.

My file name for the image is “sarah-austin-derek-steen-new-media-expo-2008.jpg” in a few days when you search for “sarah austin derek steen” this photo will come up on the first page results in the image sections of google yahoo and bing.

It’s Been Awhile…

Yes, Yes, I know nothing has been posted all of last month. After Vegas, Life got crazy for me and my contributors for Photograview. I shot a Wedding, got a Girlfriend, and a new Job. Also, in a month I’ll be moving to my new place. So these past few Months; I’ve been all over the place.

I’m working on sorting out my life and time to get interviews done. Along with the Video Podcast show with Mr. DJsteen.

On to Today’s Photo… I call it the Intense Stare. I shot it at my friend’s Crazy House. The Guy is the one who did all the art on the walls & the girl is his love, muse, friend & creative partner.

Once again I’m sorry for the lack of updates. I will make sure we have new content for you to look and read each week.

Self-Portrait “Black”, Photo Blog

So the other day I took this photo in hopes to make it on to Flickr’s Explore list for August 6h, 2008. However, that didn’t happen. Which is strange cause at the time of writing this I received more comments, favorites, and views in less amount of time than the last few photos in flickr’s explore list. Could some one please give me a little bit more in sight on getting on to Flickr’s Explore list?

I’m going to be using the “Photo Blog” section as site Announcements and a Photo Blog. Again, I’m going to be asking Photographers from our Flickr Group to share one of their photos with us.

Camera Store & Photo Review Announcement

Our first site Announcement! So far we’ve only posted photographer interviews which will not be changing. We are going to try and keep these announcements to a minimum here on Photograview. However, they are necessary as our site grows and things are added.

The Camera Store

We would like to officially announce the Photograview Camera Store. It’s been live for a few days now and some of you have all ready made purchases. Every few weeks we will update Our Pick’s with great deals & hot new products. You don’t have to worry about security or quality of the product either. All of the transactions and items come from our affiliate, Amazon.

The Photo Review

And last but not least our Photo Review section will be up in the coming weeks with a photograph every week by either our Resident Photographer Greg or a Guest Photographer. We are asking for the harshest most honest reviews we can get. This section is to help make the photographer grow and become better.

Keep in mind your more than welcome to give your feed back on any of our Photographer Interviews.
